There are more than just a few reason why Turn and Tender gets my vote for one of the best steakhouses in Johannesburg.First and foremost, their steaks are consistently excellent.Secondly, I love the fact that therestaurantspills over onto the vibey pavement, creating a continental,Europeanfeel. A far cry from a lot of South African restaurants which have all flocked to the 'safety' ofJohannesburg'sbright, soulless malls.Thirdly, the service has always been professional and unobtrusive.Definitely a place to return to when that steak craving kicks in!
You don't need to head to the coast to experience quality seafood. Fishmonger has a great vibe, with excellent service, even when packed. Their fish is fresh and tasty.
This is the new IT place in Johannesburg, and definitely worth a visit. While the place was swarming withclientèle, and we found it difficult to get a table, the service was good and of course, good to look at! With over 40 flat screens lining the walls,(itsrumoredto be the biggest Hooters in the world!) it is also a great place to catch the game. Definitely Ayoba!
What a fantastic find! I have eaten, at what I thought, were some of the best Italian restaurants Jozi has to offer. I usually also only eat at restaurants which are included in eat out magazines 1000 best places to eat in South Africa, and Cornuti was not included.I found out about Cornuti randomly - surfing the Net, browsingthrough restaurants. Cornuti sparked some interest, as I read their positive reviews. If you are looking for quality, authentic Italian cuisine, prepared by a real Italian Chef, look no further. Their menu is extensive and interesting.I had to have one of their Pizza's- and it was pretty much the most amazing Pizza I have ever tasted. (Yes, it beats even Trabella.)Service is attentive and friendly, and the decor is upmarket and modern.Perfect for a date or special occasion, although I was pleased to find out that they do take aways as well.
Chao Thai, a hole in the wall along Jan Smuts Avenue does not exactly jump out at you when driving past. In fact, I would probably never would have tried it out if I wasn't invited there by some friends.Entering the establishment is equally uninspiring. It's basically a sparsely decorated room, a few tables and "office like" chairs. I was soon to discover that the service proved similar to the surroundings - below average. So why does this restaurant deserve mention in Ayoba? Simple - the mind blowing Thai Food. Everything from the Sushi to the Curries and Stirfries are authentic, fresh and tasty. Definitely worth a few visits!Ps- Bring your own alcohol, as the restaurant is unlicensed.
For the best pizza's in Johannesburg by far! Their pastas are also awesome.
Berlin Cafe has re-opened in Illovo, and it is great. Great staff, good food, and good vibe. I would definitely recommend it to all!
