  • Getting tickets
  • Getting to Silverstone
  • Expectations from Thursday to Sunday

The summary of this post can be found on this youtube video

Booking Tickets

First understand the map and seating arrangements [pic of map] All goes down to budget. But the most important thing! If you looking to 3 days experience, you can have best of both worlds with a cheaper ticket. Why? The grandstand ticket only applies on Sunday. Meaning with a *general ticket, you can sit any grandstand on Friday and Saturday. Now thats the best of both worlds. If budget allows, go for hamilton straight or abbey. Followed by popular corners like copse or stowe.

Getting to Silverstone

According to F1, you can

  • Drive and get parking
  • Public
  • Coach like stage coach

I can only talk to public transport from London because that’s what I used. I travelled from Greenwhich for the 4 day event, 3 hours trip each way sigh I thought of booking but it didn’t make economic sense for my mini family. Trip went as following

  • Greenwich to Bank via DLR : 30 min
  • Bank to Euston: 15 min
  • Euston to Minton Keynes: 36 min
  • Milton Keynes to Silverstone: 45 min
  • 60 min of walking and waiting for bus
  • Secure another 60 minutes for waiting for the coach at Milton Keynes

Thursday

You should get schedule email before the race but 2022 Thursday looked like this [screenshot of the schedule]

If you bought 3 day event ticket and you happen to be lucky, you might be chosen to walk the track. I wasn’t chosen so I can’t talk to the experience

Important note: no stage coach on Thursday so if you using public transport, get a taxi at Milton Keynes station. Coming back is a nightmare, not taxis around, no uber. Best to pre book taxi or have a number of local taxi service which I fortunately got from a lady passing by.

My only disappointment on Thursday was lack or transport, and baby center was closed since I rolled with my 7 months old

Friday

Schedule looks like this [schedule]

Getting there is still hectic, especially queue at Milton Keys. Don’t panic though, multiple double decker buses can arrive at same time cut the queue into half.

Saturday

The day before the main event. Lots of activities at the circuit as per schedule below. Crowd definitely way more than friday. Now here’s the tip, remember I mentioned roving stands earlier, meaning friday and Saturday you can sit at any stand? Saturday is the day where you need to choose your fav stand (Mine is Hamilton Straight or Copse) n hour before the practice raise. If you are mot alone, you can alternate to get food or drinks.

You also have an option of changing stands between practice and qualifying but I can tell you for free, it will be a struggle.

Qualifying is the best, drivers do almost everything in their power to get the maximum out of the car. Seeing car live vs seeing it on TV totally different things.

I watched w-series and Porsche racing, super amazing

Sunday

Day of the race, schedule as following [schedule]

This os the main
